Same deal, just add it to your game library and it’s yours for as long as you want it.įor more chance to score free games, look out for Origin Free Code Friday and read up on the EA Tuesday Exclusive. Zombies on PC and Mac is also free right now with Origin On the House. Just download it when you get a chance.Īlready playing Battlefield? We’ve got something for you, too. All you have to do is add it to your Origin game library and it’s yours to keep forever. Battlefield 3 on PC is totally free, but only for a week. Battlefield 3 for PC is absolutely free for a limited time with Origin On the House. You read that right. Yes, Battlefield 3 for the PC can be yours for free. Rubbish, and yet another game that I'll be posting a Steam 'thumbs down', not because of the game itself (so far I'm not quite getting the hate DS3 seems to get compared to the other two) but because of the poorly thought out baggage bundled with it.Better get over there fast, EA has expanded their "On the House" initiative by adding Battlefield 3 as a new free offering. Well, until another game randomly decides it wont load and I have to do all of this again. Well, it's off now, along with other crap like allowing background services to run and I won't be switching it back on. Then realised EA App had an overlay, went to disable that, but guess what, you can't per game, it's either on or off. Nothing else, no error message, nothing helpful.ĭisabled Steam overlay for game (just in case it wasn't compatible with EA App) ![]() Steam button turns blue, EA App minimises to system tray, mystery EA App window appears and disappears, EA app emerges from system tray, Steam button goes back to green 'Play'. (And given I came across a progress blocking bug last night before calling it a night and going to bed I dont think this run will last much longer, but I digress.) Why 3? Curious I guess, never played past the prologue before. I tend to binge games over a period of days (sometimes weeks) until I get bored and move to another one. So, here I am, evening two with the EA App. Ubisoft, Rockstar, 2k etc have all managed to get the basics right, but the EA App is something I dread having to launch because I know every time I'm in for a world of troubleshooting before I can even start playing my game. It was basic, bare bones and unimpressive in many ways, but it worked as a launcher and actually kept track of the games I own licences for. ![]() Sort this mess out EA, or at the very least give people the option to go back to Origin. Thankfully not all of them, but I suspect it's coming. What's worse, this mess has now affected games I own on Steam. Not a chance am I paying for games multiple times because EA can't get it's launcher working properly. ![]() I now get taken to a screen telling me I don't have a licence for the game and I need to purchase one. I tried to run a game (Plants vs Zombies) I've owned on the platform for years. Half the time it won't start, when it does it'll tell me I have no internet connection, and then when I do click the 'restart' button it 'forgets' my login credentials and I have to log in again, from scratch. I assumed by the time EA decided they would pull the plug on Origin the app would be ready, joke is on me I guess (and everyone else with EA Games). I originally opted in to the EA App when it was first announced, I quickly replaced it with Origin as it wasn't particularly easy to use, was buggy and frankly a downgrade. ![]()
